We will be driving from East London to Cape Town over 17 days during our trip to South Africa in a month's time. We've been going back and forth on the car rental option. Bunch of confusing reviews online. Please help us with following queries:
1) Which car rental company is most trustworthy? Are South African companies like 'First' any good?
2) How to get a coverage for the excess? Insurance companies in India don't seem to cover this. Same with World Nomads. Car rentals don't seem to…
Hi All, I will be travelling to Cape Town at the end of April, and as I am a solo female traveler and have never been to South Africa, I am seeking advice for the safest form of transportation (Uber, Hop-on Hop-off, bus, etc...). I do have transfers to and from the airport but I have heard so many mixed reviews about the best way to get around the city, so would love to hear some other opinions :) thanks
Me and my 2 (in their 60's) parents are looking to a few stops on the garden route in april. We are flying from Cape Town to George mainly to avoid driving long distances. We will hire a car at George (any car hire companies?) From here we have approx 4/5 days to visit places such as Outdshoorn, Mossel Bay, Knysna, Plettengurgh Bay and Tsitsikimma. I need help as to how we should structure out our days, where to visit first and in which order. I have also heard that knysna is a nice…
I've done some searching on Goggle but I can't seem to track down information that would tell me which areas of Johannesburg mostly speak which language. Specifically, I'm looking to ascertain the areas of Johannesburg where I can go to in order to be immersed in Zulu, Xhosa, and Afrikaans. For instance, if I wanted to spend one day doing everything in Zulu where would I go head to? Then after that, Xhosa and then the next day only Afrikaans. Any insight please?
I am planning a short trip to Lesotho & South Africa in end-April to early-May, and searching for info.
I am traveling from Bloemfontein to Lesotho, and since my next destination is Durban/ Pietermaritzburg, I am wondering if I could cross the border in Sani Pass or other Lesotho/ SA border, using public transportation.
Hitching is an option, though not an easy one with luggage, and would appreciate if there is notable safety risk in this area.
Even slightest info is appreciated…
My family and I are traveling to South Africa at the end of May. We have flights booked in and out of Johannesburg, but everything in between is flexible. We arrive on the afternoon of May 22, Monday, and depart on the afternoon of June 5, Monday. That gives us 15 days in the country!
My parents are nearly 60 and cannot partake in strenuous physical activity, so hiking and trekking are off-limits. But a leisurely walking trail -- say, in the Garden Route -- would be awesome. We really…
I will be in Cape town form 28thmMarch to 2ndApril. I would like to do some hikes and to see the beauty around of Cape town (of course Table mountains and the Cap). There is 33 km hike in the Cap, with possibility of sleeping in a hut.... I would like to avoid the agencies and more to do it on my own. I am looking for the same minded people to share the experience..
Fellow travellers :) come June I will spend approximately 8 - 10 days travelling through South Africa and I thought, why not look for some company!
My plan is to hire a car in Johannesburg somewhere around June 8, embark on a scenic and cultural tour to the south, before returning the car to Jo'burg on June 18.
Since I'm finishing up a project in Zimbabwe, these dates are all but fixed. I'm also open to suggestions as far as the destination goes, though I've got my eye on the area between…
My boyfriend and I want to travel South Africa in June and we're not sure if we should pre-book our trip (hostels and campings) or that we can start our trips and see day by day where we want to go?
He's been traveling in Asia where it's able to be a bit impulsive, but I'm not sure if that's really possible in South Africa, does anyone have experience? We're going to travel by car!
