Hi- I am looking for some feedback on a family holiday with a family of four including two children 9 & 12. We have about 15 or so days to spend in August.
5 nights - Capetown
3 nights - Serondella Game lodge Kruger
3 nights- Kampama River lodge Kruger
I am wondering if we are spending too much time on safari and missing some other great sights of SA. While my girls love animals and wildlife, 6 hours of safari drives a day might be too much. Also wondering if 5 nights is too long in Capetown-…
In August i will be travelling to Cape town , and i need to know which is safer and cheaper cab between Uba cab and Private cab from airport, could you please help me ? it twist my head .

I was about to book with Flysafair East London to Cape Town and had hit the 'pay now' option only to be told my 'time had run out! (I took no longer than normal ). How reliable are Flysafair? I am now considering the Intercape bus which leaves at 1.15pm and arrives next day 05.50. Would the first 5 hours in daylight be an interesting/ scenic journey and is it likely I would be able to sleep for the remainder of the journey? Are these coaches usually full? Pricewise there is not much…
My boyfriend and I are planning on travelling to South Africa for 2-3 weeks as of August 8th. We don't want to do safaris, we have done plenty: we lived in Tanzania and we live in Nairobi now. ;) We don't drive, we like trekking and are big fans of nature(océan mountains, volcanoes, qqqqqwaterfalls, lakes, cliffs)but we also like cities. I really want to see the Blyde River Canyon and the Drakensberg. My boyfriend is really looking forward to seeing Johannesburg. I really wanted to take the…
Hello!!! I am looking for advice on safaris. I am doing a mission trip in Kenya in November which includes a 2 day safari t Masai Mara. I am going early for a vacation and am wondering if I should do a safari in Krueger as well or spend my time on a beach in Zanzibar. I am already thinking 1 week in Cape town, then trying to decide a week in Krueger or Zanzibar. I really want to get a great safari experience but also want to see the Indian Ocean and amazing beaches. Any input would be…

Myself and my partner are planning a 2 week trip to South Africia this September (The last two weeks). We would like to fly in and out of Cape Town. We would like to relax in Cape Town for a day or two and then start a self drive trip for approx 9 days.
Would be really keen to hear suggestions or ideas people have? Should we be flying into Cape Town and out of another airport to improve the journey?
Any recommendations would be very welcome. I have read lots on the internet but there…
I will be going to Cape Town at the end of August and can get a great deal on a rental car through work. A friend of mine just got back from a international road trip and said she got screwed over with the price.
If anyone has any experience renting a car in Cape Town, was there any hidden fees at the end of your trip?
I have some questions about overstaying on my permit here in South Africa. (I did read the following topic https://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forums/9/topics/visa-overstay-south-africa?page=5 ). I would like to know what I can expect. So anyone with recent experiences please share them here.
I have a Dutch passport (if thats makes any difference?). I'm in South Africa as a student, on an Exchange Permit which is valid until the 30th of June 2016. My flight out…
We're heading back to Africa in the middle of May/early June & were planning on getting a car to hit South Africa/Botswana & Nambia for roughly 6 weeks. The problem we're having is most car hire companies only hire for 4 weeks. Does anyone know of a company that will hire a car, even lease a car or a buy back car scheme that will allow you to take the vehicles across borders as well. We're flying into JNB so could pick it up here or in Pretoria. We need unlimited kms & of course a reasonable…
