Any input appreciated:
Brits on 3 year visas, about to have baby in Cape Town. Can we get the baby a visa without leaving the country?
When we got our visas we had to do it in the UK, so in theory I think we might have to leave once the passport arrives.
- I know we'll need an unabridged birth certificate
- A lot of the rules around visas changed in 2014 and again when VFS took over, so don't post if you don't have up to date info
Myself and 2 other friends (aged 25-26) are looking to go to South Africa for Christmas and New Year. I am keen for pretty much everything - Cape Town, Shark diving, whale watching, bungee jumping, hiking in Drakensberg, Kruger - although I think that might be the issue - we will try and do too much! I just wanted to ask people's opinions on what they think might be doable in 14 days?
A current (very basic) itinerary might look something like this:
Fly in to Cape Town 19…
How long will it take to drive from Port st Johns to Port Edward on the R61? We are driving from Port St Johns to Port Edward and would like to know if driving the R61 is a decent'ish road or should we go back to the N2. I am aware of the cattle on the roads and hence to not drive at night. Thanks in advance!
We are looking to buy a VW KOMBI CAMPERVAN in South Africa in August
Would any travellers have one for sale around that time? Or does anyone know anyone selling one? any good websites? thanks
Not wanting to sound like a big scaredy cat but to get to Jo'burg airport we need to either get a transfer leaving a Rosebank Hotel at say 0430 which is basically the middle of the night. Safety (not sleep) wise, are we better off transferring to an airport hotel the afternoon before?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
I have flights booked from London to Johannesburg.
Jo'burg to East London
East London to Cape Town
Cape Town to London.
Now need to make my seat choice.
Just wondered which side of the plane would give me the best views? In particular in and out of Cape Town which I imagine to be quite scenic? Not a vital question I know but as I am unlikely to return to S…
There are plenty of buses (Intercape, Greyhound etc) from J'burg to towns in Zim but apparently the visa processing at Beitbridge border takes 3-4 hours. So my question is if I buy a ticket from Jo'burg to say Masvingo, will the bus wait for 4 hours at the border? This does not seem to be the case when I look at their timetables. What do people do? I can't seem to find an answer to this online. Help please.
Many thanks as always!
We will leave St. Lucia to Kruger on July 14 where we have planned to stay for 4 days. After researching a lot in this forum, different camps and options we decided to stay 2 days in Kruger in Lower Sabie and the other two in a private reserve. We have been so naïve and haven't realized that July was so busy. Then, when I tried to book through San Parks for the first days and through their web sites in the private reserves ( rhino, elephant plains, ngala, mostwari, honeyguide and more…
I am flying into JNB and hoping only spending 1 day to do the Soweto Bike Tour.
What is the best or safest way to go from the airport to Lebo's Soweto Backpacking.
Or would it be better to stay in another area and go there in the morning?
As always, thanks for everyone's help!
