We're an active couple in our 40ies going for an unexpected business trip to Cape Town and would like to take this opportunity to do some safari in Kruger on our way back.
We've been several times in many great areas and lodges of Kenya and Tanzania, but it's said that wildlife experience in Kruger is something different.
Unfortunately, our business in Cape Town leaves us only 2,5 days for the Kruger, so we're trying to plan our stay there as tight and best as possible. I'm including our basic…

I am having trouble in finding out what places form the 2 ends of the Garden Route. the Net has plenty of section maps, but no clear definition of the whole length.

Leaving Pretoria first week in June I have a seat available in my 4x4 heading up to the Okavango either via Krueger Park or the Trans Kalagadi Park possibly the Kalahari Park or Etosha can be discussed. Share diesel, Park and camping fees. You will need your own tent etc. Cooking facilities available (no fridge). For easy going chill person.

Any input appreciated:

Brits on 3 year visas, about to have baby in Cape Town. Can we get the baby a visa without leaving the country?

When we got our visas we had to do it in the UK, so in theory I think we might have to leave once the passport arrives.

  • I know we'll need an unabridged birth certificate
  • A lot of the rules around visas changed in 2014 and again when VFS took over, so don't post if you don't have up to date info

Many thanks

Hi everyone,

Myself and 2 other friends (aged 25-26) are looking to go to South Africa for Christmas and New Year. I am keen for pretty much everything - Cape Town, Shark diving, whale watching, bungee jumping, hiking in Drakensberg, Kruger - although I think that might be the issue - we will try and do too much! I just wanted to ask people's opinions on what they think might be doable in 14 days?

A current (very basic) itinerary might look something like this:

Fly in to Cape Town 19…

How long will it take to drive from Port st Johns to Port Edward on the R61? We are driving from Port St Johns to Port Edward and would like to know if driving the R61 is a decent'ish road or should we go back to the N2. I am aware of the cattle on the roads and hence to not drive at night. Thanks in advance!

Hi.
Not wanting to sound like a big scaredy cat but to get to Jo'burg airport we need to either get a transfer leaving a Rosebank Hotel at say 0430 which is basically the middle of the night. Safety (not sleep) wise, are we better off transferring to an airport hotel the afternoon before?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

Hello everyone
I have flights booked from London to Johannesburg.
Jo'burg to East London
East London to Cape Town
Cape Town to London.
Now need to make my seat choice.
Just wondered which side of the plane would give me the best views? In particular in and out of Cape Town which I imagine to be quite scenic? Not a vital question I know but as I am unlikely to return to S…

Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations for places/lodges/reserves for safari? Planning on visiting next year and just exploring options really!
