Hello!!! I am looking for advice on safaris. I am doing a mission trip in Kenya in November which includes a 2 day safari t Masai Mara. I am going early for a vacation and am wondering if I should do a safari in Krueger as well or spend my time on a beach in Zanzibar. I am already thinking 1 week in Cape town, then trying to decide a week in Krueger or Zanzibar. I really want to get a great safari experience but also want to see the Indian Ocean and amazing beaches. Any input would be…

Hi All,

Myself and my partner are planning a 2 week trip to South Africia this September (The last two weeks). We would like to fly in and out of Cape Town. We would like to relax in Cape Town for a day or two and then start a self drive trip for approx 9 days.

Would be really keen to hear suggestions or ideas people have? Should we be flying into Cape Town and out of another airport to improve the journey?

Any recommendations would be very welcome. I have read lots on the internet but there…

Car rentals

I will be going to Cape Town at the end of August and can get a great deal on a rental car through work. A friend of mine just got back from a international road trip and said she got screwed over with the price.

If anyone has any experience renting a car in Cape Town, was there any hidden fees at the end of your trip?

Dear traveller,

I have some questions about overstaying on my permit here in South Africa. (I did read the following topic https://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forums/9/topics/visa-overstay-south-africa?page=5 ). I would like to know what I can expect. So anyone with recent experiences please share them here.

My situation:
I have a Dutch passport (if thats makes any difference?). I'm in South Africa as a student, on an Exchange Permit which is valid until the 30th of June 2016. My flight out…

Hi,
We're heading back to Africa in the middle of May/early June & were planning on getting a car to hit South Africa/Botswana & Nambia for roughly 6 weeks. The problem we're having is most car hire companies only hire for 4 weeks. Does anyone know of a company that will hire a car, even lease a car or a buy back car scheme that will allow you to take the vehicles across borders as well. We're flying into JNB so could pick it up here or in Pretoria. We need unlimited kms & of course a reasonable…

Hi

My brother and I are cycling through South Africa and would like to cycle through the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi and Isimangaliso Parks, is this allowed or do they only allow guided tours?

Also what is the danger of predators in these areas?

Thankyou!

Hello,

We have planned a 5 week trip to South Africa in September-October. Our initial plan was to fly in to Johannesburg, spend a couple of days there, and then rent a car and drive to Kruger Park.
I've looked into the Wilderness Trails which get rave reviews everywhere and look wonderful. Unfortunately almost all of them are fully booked in September, which leaves us with the Wolhuter Trail. Does anyone have any experience with this trail? Or would it be a better idea to postpone this and…

Hello,
My husband and me are planning to go to the wild coast in august, we have read about the possibility to do spend 3 or 4 days trekking between port st john and coffee bay, we have found some information but we have not found where to buy the permit to do the trekking, just the permit to enter driving a private car, which we do not plan to do. Anyone have this information? We have also found information from some local guide but we would like to do it by ourselves, something we have read is…
