Hi all,

We are from Cape Town and went for a weekend away near Greyton at Elandskloof Farm Cottages. The Cottages are self-catering and fully equipped with all appliances, except no television, which we did not mind.
We spent all our time on the farm as there are dams to swim in, with kayaks and a games room with foosball and pool (and a television there!).

There are no proper shops nearby, so you would have to drive out to get something if you forgot something important, like a braai grid, or…

Knysna after fires

Hi there,

My husband and I are visiting South Africa in November and plan to spend two nights in the Garden Route. We originally planned to stay in Knysna but are now reconsidering after the recent fires. We of course would be thrilled to support Knysna as it recovers from these devastating fires, but are also wondering if Knysna is currently an attractive/appropriate destination for tourists. Since we only have two nights in the Garden Route and will have traveled very far to get to South…

flight prices

Good morning.

I am preparing a trip to South Africa and I will have to fly several times.

I have a general question concerning flights no directly connected with the trip.

How is it possible that for the same flight there are several prices depending on the searcher? I can not understand this policy. If someone can illustrate me, I will be very grateful.

Many thanks in advance.

Hey!
I'm traveling solo around SA, currently in Durban. I'm leaving Durban in a week and heading somewhere north on the coast, then to Drakensberg and Jo'burg. I'm looking for a place to meet other backpackers but also do some hiking, is St Lucia a good place for that? What about sodwana bay and kosi bay?
Also! Does anyone have similar plans and would like to rent a car together?
Around end of August I'll be heading back to the cost and traveling all the way to cape town, anyone with similar…

Hey all,

I'm renting a vehicle from Johannesburg Airport and driving to Kruger National Park for a self-drive weeklong safari.

What's the most cost-effective way to navigate on South African highways and once inside KNP?

My car rental company offers 891 ZAR for a GPS, and Vodaphone data goes for about 150 ZAR per 1GB of data. according to this website. (https://toomanyadapters.com/buying-sim-card-south-africa/) Will I be able to reliably get signals within the park from both options? I have…

Is there a public Holiday between April 27th till May 1st in 2018?

What can I expect around Johannesburg / St. Lucia / Krugerpark? Will it be packed with people? Are shops and restaurants closed? Is this weekend best to visit Swaziland and avoid the crowds in South Africa?
Or is it just an oardinary day in life?

Thank for the info given.

Hi Guys! I have a few questions regarding transportation concerns. We're going to rent a car while we're in Hermanus, Stellenbosch, and Franschhoek. Some days my husband will just spit and drive but some days we would like to be able to enjoy wine together and not have to worry.

  1. Is it safe to drive ourself around Cape Town? I've heard mixed opinions on this. Don't drive at night and take an uber? We're staying in Gardens and the place has free parking.

  2. If we take an Uber to La…

Hello,

In a good weeks' time we're coming to SA to travel by rental car for about one month. Our itinerary will roughly be: JNB-Vaalwater-Soutpansberg-Phalaborwa-Hoedspruit-Hazyview-Pigg's Peak (Swaziland) and Malkerns (Swaziland) and from there back to JNB. We've travelled to many parts of the world and always like meeting local people, chatting, visiting markets, bars, villages etc... that are a bit off the tourist trail. This has led to many interesting encounters in the past, even…

Hello,

With my wife we have an already planned trip that goes until 18th of August to Pretoria. Afterwords we want to see Johannesburg two or three days and we want to keep two days to a national park near one of those two cities. We don't drive and we don't want to take a tour. What could be the best way to go to a national park, to stay overnight and make a guided tour there before going to Johannesburg for our flight departure?

And a small question about language : What is the place of…
