Lonely Planet review
With more history than most, the French Prince Imperial rode out from here prior to coming to a sticky end during the 1879 Anglo-Zulu War. A few of the old fixtures and fittings survive and the slightly worn but okay rooms are only good value if you catch a special (as low as R500).
