Lonely Planet review
Location isn’t everything – but it’s just one of the distinguishing features of this delightful backpackers. Terrific views abound: take an alfresco bath in the cliff-side tub or climb to the top of the 15m platform that’s perched in the forest among parrots, monkeys and baboons. Or simply gaze out of your room window; interiors are painted with fantastical designs featuring nubile fairies. Horse riding (1½-hour trails R175) and a guided 16km mountain biking trip (R250) taking in eight waterfalls are offered. The Wizard’s Sleeve Inn, which doubles as reception, is the spot to down a few beers in the evenings, order a made-to-order pizza or sandwich and trade travel tales around a log fire. Regular shuttles to East London (R125) and Chintsa (R150) are available, with reservations.
