Lonely Planet review

Still the most authoritative of the city’s hostels, the Ritz is owned by three brothers who ensure a family atmosphere is maintained on its sprawling, leafy grounds. The rooms are decent enough, aside from the pokey dorms and the odd dampish ‘cave’ room, but the excellent shared facilities, vibrant social scene, prime location and beautiful views more than make up for boring old sleep.

Our independent authors have visited The Backpackers Ritz of Johannesburg and selected this as one of our recommended hostels in Johannesburg.
