Cape Quarter

Lonely Planet review

Now split over two adjacent locations the Cape Quarter’s newer, larger block is anchored by a snazzy branch of the supermarket Spar , handy if you’re self-catering in one of the area’s cottages or flats. There’s also a lively food and goods market held on the upper floors every Sunday from 10am to 3pm. At other times, browse the many interesting shops here, including Lou at the Quarter offering the plasticised and washable fabric designs of Durban-based Lou Harvey; the monochrome aesthetic of clothing and homewears at Nap Living and Boutique Township with fair trade clothes made entirely in Africa – their designs inspired by the colours of township life.
