Cape Town

Seafood restaurants in Cape Town

  1. A

    Fishmonger

Excellent for seafood and sushi, this is a snazzily designed place with a relaxed vibe. Thuto, the head waiter, recommends the stuffed kingklip (R92).

  2. B

    Harbour House

Situated upstairs above it's little sister, Live Bait, Harbour House is a more fancy fish restaurant. It tends to be a little pricier, but it is just as appealing.

  3. C

    Fish on the Rocks

At the end of Hout Bay Harbour Rd you’ll find some of Cape Town’s best fish and chips. Watch out for the dive-bombing seagulls if you eat on the rocks, though.

  4. D

    Bertha's

This long-running crowd pleaser is about as close to dining by the water as you'll get in Simon's Town. Indulge in a seafood platter (R155) and watch the boats come and go across the harbour.

    Willoughby & Co

Huge servings of sushi are the standout from a good-value, fish-based menu at this casual eatery on the ground floor of Victoria Wharf. It’s commonly acknowledged as one of the better places to eat at the Waterfront.

    Live Bait

Sit within arm’s reach of the crashing waves and the bustle of the Kalk Bay harbour at this breezy, Greek island–style fish restaurant, its less fancy but equally appealing sibling Harbour House is upstairs.

    Wakame

Tucking into Wakame’s salt and pepper squid or sushi platter while gazing at the glorious coastal view is a wonderful way to pass an afternoon. On the second level they specialise in Asian dumplings and sunset cocktails, when their deck can get packed.

    Pigalle

Enter off Highfield Rd into a dramatic interior that's hung with huge silver chandeliers, and features multiple Elvis prints on the wallpaper. The menu offers retro favourites, such as shrimp cocktail; the seafood platter R250 is good value. There's live music most nights, too.
