I am planning on travelling by land through Europe and Africa, the only part of the trip I cannot work out is how to get to Egypt by land or sea from Europe. Any ideas, has anyone done this recently?

Hi Guys,

Ok so this is pretty much my first day of looking into Madagascar. I'm looking to have about a 10 day trip (flexible) and would like some itinerary ideas. My husband and I would like to see wildlife, have a little bit of beach time, probably kayak, see some baobabs and walk in the national parks (we are both in early 30's).

We went to Costa Rica last year and loved the fact you could stroll around and felt totally safe at all times, is this the case in Madagascar or is it unsafe? Do…

Does anyone know if there is any bus company where I can make reservations for a seat in advance? I tried AXA and it is first come first served. This is the one from the City Mall bus station. My dratted herniated neck is acting up (been abusing it a LOT lately and it is understandably acting up).

Hi Everyone,

I'm keen to find out if it is possible to cross the border from Zambia to Zimbabwe at the Vic Falls on foot - just for a day visit to see the falls from the Zim side.

Hope you can help.

Thanks!
Andrew

Hi. Laura and I are two Argentinean travel bloggers hitch-hiking (mostly) from Cairo to Cape Town. We will be in Jinka in about one week, and are looking for travel buddies to share a 4WD with driver for a day to visit one or two Mursi villages. For the rest (Konso, Hamer) we will go arund with public transport.

As far as we know the going rate for a 4WD for one day is around 150 USD. Anyone up for the adventure? :-)

hey guys and gals,

We are a Canadian Chinese couple and we will be in Marrakech from July 1 to July 5, and we are looking to do a 4 day/3 night Sahara tour from July 6 to 9. I inquired a few companies and got quote for around 330EUR per person (based on two people). We are looking for 2-4 additional folks to join us and for a 6-people group the price could possibly drop to 160EUR per person, for 4 days 3 nights, including driver, guide, accommodation, dinner. Please pm me if you are interested…

After my friends bailed on the Kilimanjaro+safari trip we’d planned, I searched through Thorn Tree about how to organise one yourself but found surprisingly little info. Having now come back from my trip, I thought I’d put down a few notes to help others who find themselves in a similar position.
Here’s the tl;dr version:
• it’s MUCH cheaper to organise at the last minute in TZ. I don’t think any more money is going to the guide/porters so the difference is less of your lucre going into some…
