This thread can be used to discuss the outbreak in West Africa as it affects travel. The Health Branch is porbably more appropriate for discussion of the disease itself.

Not to PANIC, but I've just been sent this & put it on another post - but would appreciate if the Mods could make this or the other post a sticky! Essentially travellers should be ok if they're cautious, particularly about checking the origin of meat!!!

Hi all,

Just wandering what the safety situation in Algiers is like - just thinking of stopping by for a few days.

The foreign government websites have quite high warnings, but I was wandering if this is well-founded or should be taken with a grain of salt.

Cheers!

Hi everyone,

there are several posts already on this topic, but I am hoping to find some very up to date info! We are travelling from Lusaka to Lilongwe (Kobs) and further up to Nkhata Bay (local bus). From there are hoping to catch the ferry across to Mbamba Bay in Tanzania. I found sources saying the ferry only leaves on Wednesdays, others say it only leaves on Friday. Has anyone done this trip in the last couple of weeks? Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi all,

On October 11 i will be arriving in Addis for a 26 day holiday in Ethiopia. My "plan" is to travel the north, certainly do a multi day trek in the Simien Mountains, and , if i still have time, see some of the south.
Since i have limited time and travel times are long, i could take some flights in between. I have been reading the Bradt Guide & Lonely planet, and now i still have some questions.

  • Does anyone know a nice place to stay in Addis, to meet fellow travellers?
  • Which bits…

We ended up using worldsunethiopiatours - for our 21 days private tour in Ethiopia and we were glad, negasi the owner provided us with great confidence whilst going through the organizing and booking process. He gave us suggestions, from his experience that would best suit our specific requirements. He worked with us to develop an individually designed itinerary that met our needs perfectly. Throughout this process, his replies to emails etc. were prompt and informative. We had contacted other…
