I visited Lalibela in January this year and have finally gotten around to writing up a blog post about it. It covers Lalibela itself as well as some of the churches in surrounding towns, which I'd highly recommend visiting. In essence: Lalibela lives up to and even exceeds the hype surrounding it, and I'll definitely be returning in future.

Hi all,

My husband and I are going to Morocco for our honeymoon in mid-September and will be there for 3.5 weeks. We're flying in and out of Marrakesh and will be renting a car. I'd love any thoughts / suggestions on our itinerary! I've included driving times based on google maps, so not sure how accurate these are. Does this plan seem doable? Or is this too much driving / too fast a pace? Is there anything in particular we should cut to save time? Or add because it's awesome? Thank you!

Day 1…

Hello all! I would like to attend a few days of the Gerewol festival in Niger this September and would like to know the exact dates. I realize the dates change every year with the rains and would like to know if exact dates have been established for this year. I've contacted numerous agency's and hotels in Niger and either get conflicting dates or no answer. Also, I've read on this topic from years back that it was previously possible to travel to Agadez independently and secure a guide/vehicle…

Hi,
This Mali board doesn't get updated that much, it seems. I am looking at going to Mali for a week or two in September/October with my girlfriend this year and I was wondering what the security situation is like, especially in the capital and Timbuktu. We live in Guinea-Bissau and would be travelling to Mali overland from Senegal.

Thanks

Patrick

Entebbe

Does anyone know the approximate cost for a regular taxi from the airport to Entebbe? The guesthouse I am staying in is only 9K's away and they want to charge me $15 for an airport pick up. That seems like a lot to me.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I am planning a trip from Omdurman in Sudan up to Cairo via a camel train through the Sahara desert. A route is starting to form and I was wondering if:
- Anyone else has done anything similar?
- Are camels allowed on the ferry at Wadi Halfa, if not is there an alternate way to cross? (I heard a road recently opened...?)

Also if anyone has done any trekking in the Sudan or Egypt I'd love to hear from you as I need all the knowledge I can get.

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Uganda Experts,

I recently finished a road trip through Uganda, and just put together this little article of tips, tricks and resources. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for it. All comments are welcome, and thanks for your help.
