We are planning to catch the #86 Sleeping Train from Cairo to Luxor - but wanted to know if we could join the train at Giza. The "Man in Seat 61" indicates no stop at Giza, but I just wanted to check on that ? Thnx for your help.

Short(er) boat rides and a local guide

Hi all,

I've travelled extensively in Africa - about 2 years worth over the past decade, most of it on extended, solo multi-month trips - and the Congo has topped my list of desired destinations for a while. I would love to take a few months & do the full barge trip, but my first "corpo" job & a kid on the way say no to that option. So i was in touch with Congo Travel & Tours about other shorter options for me and they were very helpful. They said I could get a passenger boat from Bumba to…

I'm trying to fly from Kruger (HDS) to East London after a safari on Saturday 9/17. It will be about lunch time. It doesn't seem feasible, as the flights are via Johannesburg, & some have hours of layover (or worse) in JNB. My plan:
----take Ashton shuttle from Kruger back to JNB on the 17th & arrive at 6:00 pm., then get picked up by my B & B, & spend the night, leaving on the 18th in the a.m. for my flight to E. London. It all seems rather roundabout & exhausting.
Any flights from Kruger to…

We will get our Ghana visa before leaving Canada. Is it possible to obtain a Togo visa at the Ghana/Togo border? Also, is it possible to obtain Benin Visa at Benin/Togo Border?

What are the requirements beyond Yellow Fever certificate if the visa is obtained at the border?

Costs?

Thanks
Marilyn

Visa Application for ROC and DRC in Libreville

Hi there,

I'm planning to travel to Gabon, Congo and DRC in August I'm just wondering if anyone had any experience applying for the 2 Congo visas in Libreville, Gabon?

Is it possible or easier and cheaper to do in your home country?

Thanks
Sharita

Hello,
My Husband and I are going to Uganda this July for three weeks. Our plan is doing the west (from Murchison Falls down to Bwindi) and then finish with a few nights near Jinja. A few questions:

  1. How much of the route can be done independently (arrive at the area/NP and find a guide there) and what should we book in advance?

  2. Would you recommend booking the entire west with a certain travel agency (including accommodations and everything) that picks us up in Kampala? How much…
