Hi All,

I have a 12 hour layover at Addis Ababa airport. I have no problems hanging around and keeping busy at the airport, although this is my first time at Addis Ababa. I know African airports tend to be smaller than those in Europe and I wanted to make sure I will be able to stay in the airport terminal over night. My flight gets in at 10pm and the next leaves at 10am so it's not ideal for me to leave anyways. Any suggestions?

OK, I can tell you right now that money is going to be your biggest headache. The government of Eritrea abruptly changed the currency at the end of last year (2015) in an effort to crush the black market. At least temporarily, it worked. As of early May 2016, the official exchange rate is 15 nakfa to 1 U.S. dollar and the black market rate is 20 nakfa to 1 U.S. dollar. Before last year, the black market rate was around 60 nakfa for 1 U.S. dollar. For euros, the official exchange rate is 16…

Border crossing Tanzania to Malawi
This is a confirmed crossing March 2016

Ovenighted in Mbeya - there are plenty cheap hostels opposite the Central Bus Station

Next morning enquiried about a bus to the border. There are no direct buses from that bus station despite what you might get told!

Get on a Daladala to the bus station called "Nani Nani" I'm not sure if that's the spelling... should cost you 400 It's about 4 km east of town

Get off there and look for buses to Kyela. Ask the driver…

Hi,

I am doing a trip throughout Uganda and then 4 or 5 days safari in Kenya before heading to Zanzibar for a week.
I was thinking of doing just the Masai Mara Reserve. I've been looking at Gametracker safaris and a few others and they all seem to be having a similar enough offer but the came across Basecamp Explorer which have more private packages including flights to their reserve, etc, etc at a higher rates but what looks to me reasonable for what it is.

South Sudan open by land from Uganda, otherwise by air.
Considering starting point of Khartoum, of course would be less time flying direct to Juba, but (a) schedules? (b) price? for
1. Taroq airline
2. Badr airline
3. Nova airline
On their websites, email addresses are wrong/come back as undeliverable; and booking process doesn't work.

Many thanks if u can provide schedules and prices.
Then will compare to Kenya air and Ethiopia air prices

I am travelling all thru West Africa - mid June for 3/4 weeks
Hoping that the tourist numbers will be down then - but rain & humidity not too high!

is there any logic in travelling from the North or South 1st etc - to avoid the on-coming (& worsening) rain & humidity?
ie which countries are likely to be getting worst 1st?
Any places to avoid?
Grey skies make for poor photos too!
cheers
