This is information for anybody considering a trip to Zimbabwe right now, based on our experience on the ground. There is a serious cash crisis in the country and it is virtually impossible for people without a Zimbabwe bank account to obtain US dollars. This means virtually every foreign traveller. Don't pretend it will be OK. Arrive with all the dollars you need to survive and enjoy your trip, including tours. Zimbabwe is a cash culture, and you will be severely restricted if you think that…

Outside chance I might go to a conference in Langebaan end of next April. I'd fly to Cape Town and stay there a couple of days (recommendations? I love museums and nature) and drive up - is that ok? I'm keen to see a bit of the country, but not run around too much - never been to RSA before. Figure I can go back :D
Conference will be three days and I think I'd stay a further three days and then would be flying to Johannesburg for a couple of weeks work. Wondering if there's a two-three day…

accommodation in Goma

Hello all,
looking for a cheap accommodation in Goma in the middle of August. In the Forum and also in the Bradt-travel guide there are listed Colibri Hotel, Shu Shu Guesthouse and the Le Nyira Hotel for a budget one.
Does anywhere knowing if they have an E-Mail-address or how to book the overnight stay ?
I think I will need the booking confirmation before applying the DRC-Visa.
Thanks a lot.
