Hi there,

My girlfriend and I are interested in traveling to Madagascar in late November for 2.5 weeks. We're wondering if anyone has good ideas for an itinerary?
We're interested in hiking, cultural activities, seeing wildlife (safari?), and a few days on a beach towards the end of the trip. We'd be interested in hiring a driver or guide for most of the trip if that makes the most sense.

If anyone has any ideas, or connections to great drivers/guides on the ground there, we'd really appreciate…

I am keen to visit Ethiopia, in particular the following destinations, as part of a photographic trip.

Addis Ababa
Harar
Awash National Park
Semera
Afrera
Erta Ale
Ahmed Ela (Dallol, Lake Asale)
Hawzien
Mekele
Lalibela

However, I am restricted to the UK school holidays as to when I can go. My preferences for going would be:

  1. Summer holidays (July, August)
  2. Easter holidays (April)
  3. Christmas holidays (December)

Obviously it depends what the weather would be like at these times as to when would be…

Hi!
Austria has issued a travel warning for Gondar, Simien Mountains and Lalibela. I have a booking there for December.
Is there someone traveling in Gondar and around or in Lalibela, who can tell me about the situation there at the moment: Are there problems for tourists like road blockings, internet failures, closed hotels, ...
What is the prognosis for the next months?

Thanks for your help!
Betty

Hi,

I'm planning to visit Ilha de Mocambique on a very short 2-day trip. I'll be flying in and out of APL (Nampula) and hence require transportation to the Ilha. Given the short duration I don't want to lose time looking for buses or negotiating with taxi drivers.

Is there a way to pre-arrange a taxi (both ways) and what cost should I expect?

Many thanks!

Hostal Morenita, Malabo

Does anyone have an email address for this Malabo hotel? The address in Bradt is incorrect; I've phoned the hotel and the address they gave me doesn't work; their Facebook page is seriously out of date. I need a reservation confirmation for my visa application.
Thanks

Hi, I'd like to spend 3-4 nights in Madikwe, it's better to sleep all the nights in the same lodge or it's better to spend 2-1 or 2-2 in differents lodges in different areas of the reserve (e.g. 2 nights in Eastern part and 2 in Western part)?
Is the reserve so small that is possible to go around almost everywhere staying in an only lodge? Or not?
Do you have some suggestions in which area is better to stay? Some recommendation about lodges (not the most expensive ones)?
Thanks in advance
