Lonely Planet review

Nestled in a coconut grove right by the lagoon, this ‘lodge’ features a large leafhouse with two bedrooms that share a bathroom as well as two luxurious seafront bungalows with private facilities. Meals incorporate locally grown fruit and vegetables and there’s 24-hour solar-generated electricity. Adventurous travellers can forgo relaxing on the pontoon in favour of snorkelling along the magnificent house reef, spear fishing in the bay, diving off Kicha Island (there’s a small onsite dive centre), hiking and crocodile-spotting – all of which can be organised by the lodge. Boat transfers to Gatokae airstrip cost A$56 per person return.

Our independent authors have visited Wilderness Lodge and selected this as one of our recommended accommodation in Western Province.
