I'm having problems finding tour operators for these locations. We are interested in local views, crafts and sailing or a catamaran ride. Can anyone give us some names and contact information? Thanks.

Hello

Thank you to all who have posted and replied previously, its so hard to find info about the solomons so the posts here are invaluable!

I am travelling to the solomons next June to get married and for a honeymoon. This will be my 2nd time in the solomons and we are interested in diving, fishing, snorkelling and local culture.
I am a bit stuck on the last bit of the itinerary and wondering if anyone can help.
This is the proposed itinerary:

Fly Brisbane to Honiara
5th July

2 nights…

Thought I´d share our experience on our recent visit to the Solomon islands October 2016. We visited Gizo, Munda, Marovo Lagoon and had a day in Honiara before and after.
As some of you may know; the Solomon islands is expensive - fuel costs and domestic flights will dig into your pockets, - but if you are after an exotic place few ventures, love the sea, and where everyone seems to know everyone, - then it´s well worth it. Weather was mostly sunny, some overcast days and some rainshowers…

We recently visited the Marovo Lagoon area of the Solomons to snorkel and had a wonderful stay at Matakuri Eco Lodge. It has several bungalows right on the lagoon side and a nice house reef on the surf side. The owner, Benjamin, meets you at the airstrip in Seghe and takes you by boat to the lodge. His wife cooks the delicious meals we all enjoyed. There's also a choice to bring your own food.
The grounds and facilities are spotless and attractive. He can take you on outings to other reefs…

Dear travelers,
Has anybody been in September or October in Samoa, Tonga, Solomon Islands, Kiribati or Nauru and knows when which month will be better? Which month are more sunny days?
It's very important to know asap.
Thanks so much for any advice;)

Auki general update

Hi regular Thorn Tree folk

Can anyone provide a quick current overview of life in Auki? Are the old Malaita regulars (Ozzie Giraffe, Laszlo, etc) still on this forum? I haven't spent time in Auki for maybe 5 years or so. Last time I was there things were very calm and a few nice cafes were opening up (very different to the grim time when the late Sir Fred was killed). Are things in Auki still on the up?
