I will be in Honiara for a few days and I want to know if anyone knows of a good book exchange or used bookshop there. I recall last time I went that there was a shop selling some used books in that central shopping mall type of place. Thanks.
I'm after some advice from anyone who has been to the SI and has some tips on what to see and do. I was originally going to learn to scuba dive but for health reasons I can no longer do this.
At the moment I'm spending 2 nights in Honiara when I arrive, then heading for a night on Munda before heading to Tetepare Ecolodge for 5 days. After that I'm a little unsure exactly what to do. I'm thinking of spending some more time on Munda and visiting Gizo and Marovo Lagoon. I'm arriving in…
has anyone been at Tetepare Ecolodge recently? I've been emailing them for several weeks and still haven't received any reply. Any help would be appreciated, we'd love to spend some days there!
I'm planning a trip of about 3 weeks to the Solomons from mid-october to early november 2014. Just read in a website that there are general elections scheduled for the end of october) and that there is a chance of violence and riots around those dates. Any inside information? Is it something worth taking seriously, even to the point of considering a different destination (a second option would be Vanuatu)?
We have booked accomodation in Malaita for next week.
We still do not know how we can get there from main island.
Any information would be extremly welcome.
Ship, of any kind, when...?
Are flights going there...?
Your info most welcome!
Hello, I am glad I found this forum. My mom and I will be traveling from the US to Honiara in mid July. While we are there, we'd like to have a weekend trip to another island. Has anyone stayed at the Tavanipupu Private Island Resort in Marau? From the pictures I've seen and the feedback from people, I think this would be a great place. We're just looking for a place where we can relax, enjoy swimming in the clear water and possibly go snorkeling during the weekend-- nothing much, just a calm…
I have had some very good info on this forum in preparation for upcoming trip to Solomons.
We are going to Malaita - I would be happy to know about reserving for the 360.
We are travelling in July, should we, somehow, book in advance?
I returned from a couple of days in Honiara yesterday. I went primarily to help out friends after the floods. The good news is, Honiara is up and running pretty normally as far as visitors are concerned. The main problem is the traffic jam, caused by the loss of the second Chinatown bridge. Anyone on a morning flight would need to head to the airport about half an hour earlier than usual. Some enterprising taxi drivers are using short cuts to beat the traffic, but there is no way to avoid the…
Myself and three friends are travelling to the Solomon Islands in May. We have booked a flight with Virgin Australia into Honiara on a Thursday afternoon. I have spoken with some people about getting away from Honiara on the Friday as we don't want to stay there for more than one night, and leaving on the Thursday night would be even better!
I've been told that the only boat from Honiara to Gizo goes on Sunday... and that our only real option to get out of Honiara on a Thursday or…
