Bus

There are between three and six daily departures to Dolenjske Toplice (€2.20, 15 minutes, 11km), Otočec ob Krki (€1.70, 10 minutes, 7.5km), Šentjernej (€3, 30 minutes, 21km) and Šmarješke Toplice (€2.20, 20 minutes, 12km), and seven to 10 buses a day to Brežice (€5, one hour, 44km), Kostanjevica na Krki (€4.50, one hour, 39km) and Ljubljana (€7, two hours, 72km) via Trebnje or Žužemberk. Two or three buses a day go to Črnomelj (€5, one hour, 43km), and you can also reach Zagreb (€7.80, 2½ hours, 77km) on the daily bus, which departs at 8.50am.

Train

Up to 14 trains a day serve Novo Mesto from Ljubljana (€5, 1½ hours, 75km) via Ivančna Gorica and Trebnje Gorica. Ten of these continue on to Črnomelj (€2.65, 45 minutes, 32km) and Metlika (€3.30, one hour, 47km), where there are connections to Karlovac in Croatia.
