This new club with different themed evenings (eg hip-hop and R'n'B on Saturday) in the Kolosej multiplex cinema at BTC City Shopping Centre has been making quite a splash since it opened in mid-2006.

This wine bar is an excellent place to taste Slovenia vintages; they've got 100 different types in stock and frequently schedule promotions and wine tastings.

Factory Ljubljana
Ljubljana's biggest club is hidden in a shopping centre opposite the Leclerc Hypermarket in the far southeast suburbs. You can take bus No. 27 to get there.

Glej Theatre
Glej has been Ljubljana's foremost experimental theatre, working with companies that include Betontanc (dance) and Grejpfrut (drama). It stages about five productions a year.

You wouldn't go out of your way to reach the 'Castle Café', but if you're on the hill and thirsty or peckish, it's a decent pit stop. Think 1970s concrete café.

With the distinctive name of 'Pavement', this roped-off café-bar on the southern side of Prešernov trg is one of the most popular places for a drink. Sit outside and watch the passing parade or listen to some live music (most nights).

The 'Star Café' is celebrated for its shop-made cakes, especially skutina pečena (around €2 ), an eggy cheesecake.

Klub K4
This evergreen club in the basement of the Student Organisation of the University of Ljubljana (Študentska Organizacija Univerze Ljubljani; ŠOU) features rave-electronic music Friday and Saturday, with other styles of music weeknights, and a popular gay and lesbian night on Sunday. It closes when university breaks up.

Križanke
The outdoor theatre at this sprawling 18th-century monastery hosts the events of the Ljubljana Summer Festival. The smaller Knights Hall (Viteška Dvorana) is the venue for chamber concerts.
