will be in Slovenia this June for approx one week and was wondering what do you think is a recommended way to split the time. I'll likely spend 2 nights in LJU, and the other 4-5 thinking to split between Bled and Bohinj.
I'd like to point that I'm traveling alone and into meeting other people and hiking together with them in a group.
Into nature, perhaps almost-extreme activites (rafting, canyoning etc.)
Into day-treks with magnificent views :)
Do you think 2 days Bled and 2 days…
My wife and I are planning a trip to Slovenia and Austria for a month with our 1 YO son (very excited!)
We're not sure where to start and will rely on the lonely planet guide for planning.
So the first question is whether to buy the central europe guide with the relevant episodes or get the slovenia & austria guides.
Bare in mind we buy the kindle edition so weight is not the issue
I have been reading about Slovenia online and in the guidebooks and I am really looking forward to going this August. One thing I can't seem to find out though is whether there exist any natural hotsprings? I see reference to spas a lot, but what would be amazing if there are any natural hot pools, where you are out in nature in the open air, ideally in the forest. Do these exist?
Thanks in advance.
2½ days in Slovenia. Planning to hit Ljubljana, Lake Bled & Lake Bohinj before leaving to the airport to catch my flight to Frankfurt. Flight departs from LJU at 1805hrs so I'll probably have to reach the airport around 1600-1630hrs to be safe.
Rough plan of my itinery:
Day 1: Morning @ Ljubljana City Center
Depart for Lake Bled and stay 1 Night
Day 2: Depart for Lake Bohinj in the morning
Plan to visit the Cerkev Sv. Janeza Krstnika, Savica Waterfall and take the Žičnice Vogel Bohinj…
My husband and I will be travelling from Dolomites to Lake Bled in early October. We will be staying in Val gardena. We are on a budget and we wish to use public transport.
1) Which will be the shortest way to reach Lake bled from Val gardena?
2) Are there any night trains in this route? We would like to save some travel time.
Thanks in advance
I am visiting Slovenia for 7 days in the beginning of May. I have booked hotel for the first two nights in Ljubljana, but am not sure if I should book accommodation for the rest of the stay, or if it's more practical to go along the way and walk in to see if rooms are available. This particularly because I am not sure how long I would stay in one town/area. I am travelling by public transport.
I am planning to visit the following places: Ljubljana, Postojna, Skocjan caves, Bled…
Question about a driving day in Slovenia: I'll begin the day in Lake Bled, and end it in Portoroz on the coast (and I have to keep to this schedule). Is it too much driving in one day to go:
--From Bled, north through the Julian Alps and the Vršič Pass. (This will be the third week of May--I assume all roads are open then.)
--Then along the Soča through Bovec and then Kobarid.
--Then south to Portoroz, maybe stopping for a bit in the Vipava Valley or at Predjama Castle en route.
Hi everyone! :)
I'm from Canada and I plan to spend 7 days in Slovenia next September.
Should I stay at the same hotel in Ljubljana for 6-7 nights and do daytrips to Bled, Postonja / Skocjan Caves, etc. OR would it be better for me to stay over-night in these places and stay in the capital only for 2-3 days? I read that these places are only 1 to 2 hours fron Ljubljana - by bus.
Also, I wonder if I can do all the main must-sees by using public transportation (bus) and foot. Are the main…
We have finalized a trip to Slovenia and Croatia the last week in July and first week of August and are hoping to get suggestions on a few great places to eat and drink while we're there. We're traveling with our three kids and will be meeting another close family from Germany as well. We would love to get suggestions for places to get good, local traditional food, wine, and possible visit a few breweries if possible. We would welcome any suggestions you might have for the following…
Sorry for the simple question but Google is being absolutely useless. Me and my friends want to go on an outdoorsy holiday somewhere cheapish and Bled is the top of our list. We would like to spend the cycling and doing watersports etc. Does anyone know the price of these activities?
Also can someone give us an idea of the price of drinks, food etc? Much appreciated!!
