Is it just me, or is it really complicated getting from Italy to Slovenia.
I thought Trieste to Slovenia would be quick and easy but it takes a long.time. Trains seem to go via Austria.
My girlfriend and I are planning to explore Solvenia in May next year and were hoping to do at least an overnight tramp around Bled.
Any info would be awesome, ie, recommended trails, accommodation (we're used to New Zealand back country huts, so basically a roof and fire), weather at that time of year.
We both have quite a lot of experience tramping both on and off the beaten track and aren't afraid of a bit of a challenge.
Any info will be much appreciated!
I'm thinking of embarking on my first solo trip, perhaps a little ambitiously, to Slovenia in end-October without a car. I'm hopeful about exploring parts of Bled, Bohinj and Soca valley within a short 6-day trip. I'm looking for any suggestions as to how this can be done, as I'm aware that weather won't be great, transport might be shut down, and I really don't want to be stranded alone! (That might scare me off future solo trips)
Thank you so much! :))
I've read that buses are hourly from Ljubljana to Bled but what time does the last one leave? We're travelling on 15th September and our train from Budapest gets to Ljubljana at 4.45pm. I've checked timetables and there doesn't seem to be a bus after 5.00pm. i looked at earlier date (Aug) and there are evening buses. I thought mid September would still be tourist season.
I will be in Slovenia for 1 weeks from mid September. For during the day do you think layers will be fine, that is: short sleeve top, a fleece zip-up and a light jacket. Then for the evenings (dinner time - 8pm-10pm) will a knitted top and a parka be required?
- I also posted this on the Tripadvisor Forum so I hope I'm not asking the same people :-) -
My partner and I will be going to Slovenia for a weekend mid-September. We arrive in Ljubljana on a Thursday evening and fly back around dinner time on Sunday. I normally don't plan ahead much but since we have such a short time I want to make sure I make the most out of it and not spend time on location arranging things that I can sort out now. But I need some help!
We are looking to do…
Hi to everyone, I m planning a 3 days trip (12/08 to 14/08) on the beautiful mountains of the Triglav National Park. If there is anyone who wants to join me or will hike the same trails..he/she is welcome!!!!!
I will be visiting Slovenia in September.
The day of my departure, I will be flying out from Jose Pucnik at 6:45am to Paris CDG.
Should I stay the night in Ljubiajana and take a taxi very early in the morning (around 4:30am)or should I sleep in the nearest hotel from the airport?
I wish I could take a shuttle but from the city center at 4:30 there ain't (too early). :(
I really want to make sure to be there on time at least 1 hour in advance (5:30am).
Thanks a lot in advance for your…

I am planning a 2 week trip in Slovenia with a detour into Istria.
Current plan - Ljubljana - Bovec - Bled (plus Bohinj?) - Rovinj (Croatia) - Ljubljiana.
I am travelling by public transport and, as I am planning to see Ljubljana at the end of my trip, am hoping to get a bus to Bovec on the same day as I arrive. I have checked the connection works on http://www.ap-ljubljana.si/en/ but want to know if I need to book. This will be in mid August so peak holiday time. I'm…
