We don't know whether the name is a threat or a promise, but Buda's only gay bar at the moment is a magnet for a slightly older crowd – not yet 'mature' but definitely no longer in short pants. A welcome arrival.
Still Budapest’s premier gay club, AlterEgo has the chicest (think attitude) crowd and the best dance music on offer.

Probably the cruisiest gayme in town, this place with the in-your-face name has 400 sq metres of hunting ground, three bars and some significant play areas in back. Don’t bring sunglasses.
This welcoming neighbourhood gay bar on ‘Beautiful St’ (could it be anywhere else?) is a cafe with a tiny lounge space upstairs and a small stage.
Action is where to head if you want just that (though there’s a strip show at 1am on Friday, which may distract). Take the usual precautions and don’t forget to write home. Men only. Entrance fee includes a drink.
