i've recently been in touch with LP Slovakia author Luke Waterson, who is based in Slovakia. He just wrote a great article about the Male Karpaty- the hill/mountain range just outside Bratislava that is wonderful for hiking.
Slovakia is already off the beaten track but the Male Karpaty probably even more so...

I come from Finland. My wife has a conference in Bratislava on Nov 17-23 and I'll be free to do some tourism etc. I like languages and would like to learn some Slovak (I speak Polish) and get to know real local life and places.
I am also a Catholic theologian (28 yrs old) and would like to see churches and go to Masses and meetings of church groups/movements/chaplaincies, also other churches if there are eg. Lutheran, Hussite or other.

Hi there - I have rather unexpectedly found myself with a sudden opportunity to be in Slovakia over Christmas this year (arriving in Bratislava around December 23). I will be travelling by myself or possibly with one other person.
I'll only have 4-5 days in Slovakia before I need to make my way to Poland (Zakopane/Krakow).
At first glance it seems like Bratislava would be the most practical place to be on December 24/25 in case restaurants, stores, etc are closed these days in smaller towns.…
Im planning a four day holiday in Bratislava for 15 friends in april 2015. We are all 25 years and like to drink. I have read many articles about the nightlife in Bratislava but they are saying different things. So I hope you can help me: Does Bratislava has many good bars and clubs and in general a good nightlife? And what are the prices for beers and drinks at the bars?
I hope you can help :-)
I understand that Slovakia has over a hundred hot spring resorts. I'd like to spend a week at one. I need to access it by public transportation, not renting a car. If you've been to one, it was reasonably priced, and you loved the place, please reply.
I just got a chance to travel to Bratislawa for a few days in the beginning of September and wanted to ask if someone could recommend me a not too expensive place to stay in the citycenter. I am looking for a double room with private bath.
Thank you very much!
I will be getting married this december after which I am planning a Eurotrip for my honeymoon. We are planning to visit Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. We will be visiting these countries for the first time so any help would be highly appreciated. We also had Slovenia in the list but took it out as couldn't plan an itinerary around it.
I have been doing a lot of research these past few weeks to find out what the top destinations in these countries are and how much time…
Where is the best area to stay in the city centre for 6 lads on a drinking weekend?looking for cheap and cheerful.early September.
