Lonely Planet review
Clearly reflecting an outdated notion of overstuffed grace - tufted black leather chairs, busy wallpaper - the Devín could use a makeover. Still, this hotel is like a favourite old robe that you just can't give up. Whether it's the waterfront old town location or the hospitality school-trained staff, there's something oddly comforting about the Hotel Devín.
Walking under seven crystal chandeliers to get to your room...sinking into a traditional federal-style bed...standing on your patio watching the Danube flow past. The elegance isn't the most up-to-date, but it's approachable. Be aware that the top-end prices correspond to the location more than to the fixtures. Six spacious suites are on the 3rd floor. Views improve as you go up; corner room No 525 is the best, giving you an eyeful of the river, the castle and the Old Town. The few modern concessions include Thai massage offered at their relaxation centre-pool complex, and wi-fi throughout.
