Lonely Planet review for Singapore Zoo

Set on a peninsula jutting into the Upper Seletar Reservoir, the Singapore Zoo is world class. Its 28 landscaped hectares and open concept (no cages) are a far cry from the sad concrete confines some zoos retain.

Wonderful setting with animals well cared for.

    papanesz recommends this,

This is one of the best zoos in the world. It is spacious, plenty of room for people and animals! There is a large variety of creatures to see and all of them are well looked after.

The zoo keepers clearly take pride in their work, so typical of Singapore. Definitely a great place to take children.

One of the best zoos worldwide

    expatbostonians recommends this,

Using the "open-plan" format, the Singapore Zoo lets you get up close and personal with the animals. From Elephants to tigers to Orang Utans, this zoo has it all. Feeding times are clearly marked, and several animals have the opportunity for you to feed them yourself (giraffes, rhinos, kangaroos etc). There are elephant and pony rides.

The "kidzworld" waterplay area is a huge hit with the kids. Expect to spend a LONG time there.

Don't miss out on the tropical plants garden. Not only are there gorgeous tropical plants, but the orchids are also stunning.

    Night safari is a must!

    sirissk recommends this,

The night safari is a trainride in small charts through beautiful scenary. You are not allowed to use the flash on your camera, and the animals aswell as the train is constantly moving, so it's really hard to catch good photos from the safari. Anyway, it's worth doing in my oppinion.

    Good for: Couples

    Such a nice Zoo

    fgspore recommends this,

It's really fun here with the entire family. So many things to see... And if it gets really hot, you can always cool down in the small huts with aircon service before continuing your journey through the park. Don't forget the Night Safari afterwards with it's fantastic pre-show.
