Singapore Art Museum information
SAM houses an engaging collection of Southeast Asian art, with a strong emphasis on modern and contemporary art from Singapore and the broader Asian region. Expect anything, from painting and sculpture to site-specific installations and video art. One highlight is the Wu Guangzhong gallery, which features a rotating exhibition of $70 million worth of art donated by the father of modern Chinese painting.
SAM itself occupies the former St Joseph's Institution – a Catholic boys' school and gracious example of 19th-century colonial architecture.
