Lonely Planet review for Sentosa Island

Five hundred metres off the south coast of Singapore is Sentosa Island, the city’s unfailingly popular resort getaway. The Brits turned the island into a military fortress in the late 1800s. In 1967 it was returned to the Singaporean government, who developed it into a holiday resort. These days, a concerted effort to transform the island from tacky second-rate to tacky world-class is under way. The entire northern front is home to a Universal Studios Theme Park and a casino.

    fun and entertainment

    fgspore recommends this,

I believe that the beaches are nice and the island offers plenty of attractions and fun. If you do look for nature pure, this is not the right place. It's all about fun and leaving the every day life behind...

    Why bother?

    vivekw does not recommend this,

I was really looking forward to my half-day-trip to Sentosa, but by the evening I was dreadfully disappointed. Sentosa was an unprepossessing combination of manufactured beach "fun" and ugly concrete industry. I wouldn't go back.
