Lonely Planet review for Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve
Attention bird-nerds! The 87-hectare Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve overlooks the Straits of Johor in the far northwest of the island. The park sustains 140 bird species, most of which are migratory, and features mangrove boardwalks, walking trails enclosed by thick foliage, observation huts and guided tours on Saturdays (9am, 10pm, 3pm and 4pm). Audiovisual shows on the park’s flora and fauna are held at 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm (hourly between 9am and 5pm on Sunday). BYO binoculars and mosquito repellent.

A reminder of how Singapore used to be
nadmac recommends this,
A great place for bird watching, complete with bird blinds. Spot otters, water monitors, alligators, and hornbills, as well as mudskippers, crabs, and baby horseshoe crabs.
One section of the reserve is still undeveloped, so it is nice to walk through that area for a quieter experience. (From the main park, head away from the visitor center and look for an unmarked trail.) Then wander over to the more formally developed area for the visitor center, a boardwalk through the mangrove, and a trail around the wetlands (where you'll find the bird blinds).
A little hard to reach by public transit. A taxi might work better.
