It’s a S$10 taxi ride to get here from Orchard Rd but where else in Singapore can you chow down on eggs Benedict while watching horses being groomed and trained? The nonair-conditioned setting, in an utterly charming retro black-and-white colonial bungalow, completes the experience.

In Singapore but Not Quite...

Who would have guessed a spot such as this still exists in uber-urban Singapore? The green surroundings, the sight of riders in their high boots, the low-rise buildings could have been lifted right out of an English country side. The food is so-so, but for a quiet respite from the hustle-and-bustle of city life, there can hardly be a better place than this. It's quite nearly inaccessible unless you have a set of wheels (or hooves) so privacy is almost guaranteed. Sip Earl Grey, munch on toast with marmalade, and be transported to another world for a while.
