Lonely Planet review for Samy’s Curry Restaurant

For 25 years the ceiling fans have spun above Samy’s munificent curries in this leafy, open-walled, timber-shuttered colonial throwback. Recent renovations have removed some of the charm but the fish-head curry is still sublime. Come early for a verandah table.

    Eating is more than food

    pushpalata recommends this,

    Its one of the restaurants in Singapore which has still the atmosphere you seldom find today. It belongs to the places which remembers you old times. Sitting on the terrace you hear the sound of the insects and the fans over your head makes the humid hot air bearable. The food on the banana leaves will be brought to you separately. You allways will be saying yes, when it will be offered to you but you know it, this would be to much. I prefered the hot spicy prawns and the cuttle fisch. But the best you can do is to havea look at the buffet inside. The staff shurely will forget your choice but your heart will be open, you'll go happy back to your place knowing you'l not be dissappointed.
