Lonely Planet review for Zam Zam
These guys have been here since 1908, so we figure they know what they’re doing. Tenure hasn’t bred complacency – the touts try to herd passers-by through the door as frenetic chefs whip up murtabaks (flaky, flat bread filled with mutton, chicken or vegetables).

If you're in the historic Arab Street district, you can't go wrong stopping by Zam Zam's for a taste of authentic Indian Muslim cuisine. Plenty to try, but my personal favourite is the fish briyani rice (rice cooked with saffron and herbs, served with fish curry). Complete the meal with spicy "teh halia" (tea with ginger).

Still As Popular As Ever
skythong recommends this,
This place reeks of people even at non-meal hours. I had the first hand experience recently when I visited the place. The setting is a hawker-like environment with air conditioned on the second floor.
Despite already having lunch, I had heard so much about Zam Zam that I went there for a second round at about 3pm, ordering the Mutton Dum Bryani (which I also had for lunch about an hour earlier) and the Chicken Liver.
The chicken liver never arrived, which was probably a good thing since I was quite stuffed after consuming the Mutton Bryani, which I found to be rather normal.
In conclusion, I left the restaurant without still understanding what the hype is all about.

Definitely the best Murtabak in Singapore~!
crisknight recommends this,
Growing up in the Bugis area , I have grown up eating this store , so did my father ,who is in his 50s too and also grew up eating at this store. With its 100 years history at its current location, there is probably no doubt as to how delicious the Murtabaks here are.
They serve both Mutton and Chicken Murtabak , which in my opinion are equally delicious although my personal favourite is the Mutton Murtabak here. Different from other Prata shop in Singapore , they do not scrimp on the ingredients and the Murtabak is first made up by making a prata with an egg or two in the middle , and then wrapping the prata with another layer of dough , and with generous serving of the meat spread evenly inside the second layer of dough. Then , it's fried over a very hot flat frying pan designed for frying prata and served hot and delicious.
One bite into the Murtabak and one would taste the difference as to what makes this Murtabak shop the best in Singapore. The murtabak is irresistably tasty and the crispiness is top notch too. When taken with some curry gravy which is recommended , it immediately became a winner and it would be hard to stop eating it once you have started eating.
Beside the Murtabak , the shop also serve a very good Roti Telor and a Mee Goreng which is a very tasty Indian spicy Fried Noodle. And the thing about this restaurant is that despite its generally very cozy environment and a clean and air-conditioned level 2 eating area , the price is very affordable , almost at the Hawker level! The location of this restaurant is convenient , being located in Bugis , the busy shopping area within walkable distance of the Central. What's more is that the crews of this restaurant always serve with a smile and provide quality service to customers.
So all in all , this restaurant , is , in my opinion one of the must-go restaurant if one would like to really enjoy a meal , at an affordable price and with a very cozy environment

The Zam Zam Experience
reynard90 recommends this,
Looking for the kick that goes with spicy, traditional Indian Muslim food? Check. Foodie haven older than the nation itself, having survived for just over a century? Check. Affordable for even budget travellers? Check. Chicken Murtabak that everyone raves about? Check.
Singapore Zam Zam is such a renowned institution in Singapore when it comes to good ol' chicken briyani, murtabak and prata - the triumvirate of Indian Muslim food here - that you'll be hard-pressed to find a time when it's not crowded. Directly opposite famous landmarks such as Arab Street and the Sultan Mosque, Singapore Zam Zam lives up to its reputation. Even the Sultan of Brunei does takeaways often, whenever he visits sunny island Singapore.
The service, while not impressive (it is pretty hectic after all) is more than made up for with the excellent, aromatic food and the vibrant and authentic atmosphere created by the waiters who run to and fro, yelling multiple orders with their incredible memory work.
