This old-school, family-run restaurant at the base of an apartment tower has carved itself a culinary niche preparing Foochow-style food from southern China. Try the excellent cold crab, fragrant crispy duck and prawn rolls.

    This place is so retro (in the old fashioned sense of the word, not the trendy faux-retro of today) it almost brings out the bell-bottomed Afro-topped hippy in its patrons. But look beyond its tired deco to savour menu unique to this restaurant. Forget chilli crab - when in Singapura, you must sample the cold crab. Lightly seasoned, served cold, the dish lets the subtle flavours of the crab come through. Advance order is a must. From my experience, parking is a hassle so you might want to grab public transport.
