Lonely Planet review for Lei Garden

Firm favourite for fancy Chinese dinners, the seafood at Lei is particularly well done (try the cod), but the roast pork also attracts a loyal following. Service can be patchy, so avoid when extremely crowded.

    tasty food!

    cchew recommends this,

Lei garden provides a wide range of dishes, thus there will certainly be one that suits your appetite best. The food quality is good and price is also quite reasonable. The restaurant is quite small but the service is good. Their staff are friendly and efficient. The restaurant is usually crowded during weekends. They offered one of the best Cantonese cuisine in the town.

I would recommend the pig trotter in vinegar dish. The meat is tender and fresh. Furthermore, the sauce is also tasty and fragrant thus making the dish one of the best I have tasted.

Another one would be the double boiled Fish's Bone. The soup is refreshing and doesn't leave you with the MSG aftertaste. The fish is boiled to perfection, very soft which makes it easy to consume.

Their shanghai dumpling with minced meat is also commendable. A good combination of the vinegar and ginger. The dumpling itself has a soup base of its own, thus making the dish very scrumptious.

The deep fried prawns coated with salted egg yolk is also nice. The dish is generally sweet with a tinge of saltiness due to the egg yolk which makes the prawns even more flavourful and delicious. They also use very fresh prawns for the dish.

The steamed grouper belly is also nice. The fresh fish is steamed in soy sauce, ginger and minced chicken. The meat is soft and the sauce makes the dish even more fragrant.

After the main courses, you can also try their desserts such as durian pudding, glutinous rice balls, glutinous dumpling with seseme...

Other dishes also include Siew Mai with black mushrooms, BBQ Pork Pie and many more.

This place is definitely worth visiting.
