Introducing Northern Sierra Leone
Northern Sierra Leone is the homeland of the Temne people. The landscape is higher and drier than the southeast and the largest towns feel more like overgrown villages than cities. Where they haven’t been cultivated, the undulating hills are covered in light bush or savanna woodland, although ribbons of dense forest run along the major rivers. The hills become mountains in several places, with many peaks rising above 1500m.

It is also home to Sierra Leone's only national park, Outamba-Kilimi National Park, known locally as the Wilderness Camp.
