Introducing Outer Kosovo
Outside Prishtina and away from the Serbian border, Kosovo is waiting to be discovered. If you are in the southwest, tune your haggling skills at the Peja (Peć) bazaar, the centre of this lively town, still with remnants of its Turkish past. Nearby you will find the beautiful old Serbian Orthodox monasteries of Patrijaršija and Dečani, both World Heritage listed and replete with glowing frescoes. To the southwest you can't miss the medieval city of Prizren, with its narrow cobbled streets and café-lined Shadrvan plaza. In the winter time the village of Brezovica, east of Prizren in the beautiful Šar Mountains, is a burgeoning ski resort.Advertisement
