Lonely Planet review
Modern, stately and with the full complement of marble, mod cons, mutedly expensive decor and business-oriented services you would expect from the Hyatt chain, this is easily the best hotel for facilities. The downside - and it's a big one - is its location: stuck out in the middle of boring old New Belgrade.
The rooms are large, light (although the windows were grimy when we visited) and stylishly muted (sand-coloured carpets, black marble desks) with huge beds, large TVs and floor-to-ceiling marble bathrooms. There's high-speed Internet, air-con and - if you're lucky - very distant views of Kalemegdan Citadel. The hotel facilities are excellent and include a plush, serene temple-like spa, gym and pool (very nice but only 18m), two restaurants (including the highly rated Focaccia), a bar, Ellington's jazz club and a tearoom (where smoking is both permitted and pervasive). The public area is set around an appealing, light atrium. The Hyatt's big downside is the location in a soulless highway-encircled business district set well back from the river Sava. You'll be reliant on (admittedly cheap and plentiful) taxis to go anywhere.
