Hello Thorn Trees,
I am planning a ride on my bike (BMW F800GS) from Dakar to Casamance.
I currently live in Dakar anyway (expat), just wondering about the route from Saly, Fatick through Sine Saloum to the border crossing at Karang Senegal Gambian border onwards to the ferry at Barra, Banjul and down through to Casamance.
Is it a hassle to get a Gambian visa and vice versa back into Senegal. I am Australian and we currently can Visa at the arrival airport, just not sure about the land…
just got back from Dakar. I want to recommend a great driver/tourguide to you. Mamadou has his own car speaks good spanisch, english and french and definitely knows his ways around all of senegal. He drove me from Dakar to Banjul and back in one day, allthough he doesn´t do these tours anymore and is more focussed on guiding, makes sense since he knows a lot about the country.
He always answered my questions within 12 hours via email email@example.com
You can find some…
Does anyone know if there are any hotels in Keur Ayip any standard any price! Keur Ayip is the one on the border on the route for taking the boat to Zig boat via Banjul. I know there are some in Nioro, but about Keur Ayip I've no clue.
Me and boyfriend are visiting Dakar in late May and we would like to do a walking tour of the city.
Could anyone recommend us of any good tour guides they have used in the past?
I want to go to Africa to learn french for a bit less than 2 months. I think either Cameroon or Senegal are the best options. Which of these countries would people recommend? Important things to consider: Price (very important), people vibe, safety, sights, things to do, other backpackers, and most importantly, where is actually best to LEARN french?
If there are any french speakers in this forum. Which is the coolest accent?
So...I'm thinking about overlanding from Nouakchott to Bissau in June. The LP even says "There are few reasons to visit the region at this time with the rains well and truly underway". So my question...is it really that bad?
I've been elsewhere in the rainy season (Central America, SE Asia, etc.) and it's never proven to be that bad. Usually just an hour of rain a day before it clears up, but it's never really gotten in the way of things. Is this stretch of west Africa worse? Is it really…
Does anybody know the timetable and price of the ferry (I believe it's overnight?) from Zhiguinzhor to Dakar? Any information regarding the reverse leg would be well appreciated too.
my girlfriend and I are going to Senegal in May and June 2016. We would love to spend at least a month with a NGO or any association that helps young Senegalese preferably in Dakar or Saint Louis. In terms of mission we don't have any requirement. I am sure our background can be of help for any educational mission. I did some researches and there's so many different associations. It would be great if you could speak about your experience and give us some advises and names of people we…
