There's a good network of local buses, although they are comparatively expensive. First (08708 72 72 71; www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/scotland/ses cot/home) operates between the border towns and connects the larger towns with Edinburgh as well as Berwick-upon-Tweed. National Express (08705 808080; www.nationalexpress.com) services between Edinburgh and Newcastle/Leeds stop in Jedburgh and Galashiels.
