  41. Oblique view of the Firth of Forth, Forth railway bridge floodlit at dusk. The bridge completed in 1890 replaced the Tay bridge which collapsed in high winds. The Forth bridge was overly constructed to regain public confidence. It was the longest span in the world until 1917, and is still the second longest today and is the bridge that ushered in the era of the great cantilever style.
