Getting there & away

There are flights from Kirkwall to Westray (one way/return £31/62, 20 minutes, one or two daily Monday to Saturday). A ferry links Kirkwall with Rapness (passenger/car £6.50/15, 1½ hours, two to three daily May to September). There are one to two ferries daily in winter.

There’s also a passenger-only ferry from Pierowall to Papa Westray (£6.50, 25 minutes, three to six daily in summer); the crossing is free if you travel direct from the Rapness ferry. From October to April the boat sails by arrangement; phone 677216.
