I'm looking for some ideas of things to do in Stirling--preferably things within walking distance or a short (10 minutes) drive from the city center.

I'm obviously anxious to see Stirling Castle. And I understand the Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum is quite nice, so I'll be sure to check that out too. The city center ("Top of the Town," as I believe it's called) looks like it has a lot of great shopping and dining options.

Finally, I see from GoogleMaps that Bannockburn is just a…

Greetings! My husband and I will be spending six nights in Edinburgh during the first week of March. We're experienced travelers, with an interest in urban spaces and industrial history (ports, mill communities, rail stations, technology museums). Generally, our travel style is to stay one week in a city, exploring neighborhoods and taking a few day trips by train - we've done this successfully in Berlin, Lisbon, Dublin, & Belfast.
We're just starting our travel planning for Edinburgh, and we're…

Hi, everyone.
I need help with a planned trip and if it is planned well, or should I need adjustments.

We're going to Scot on 29th March landing in Edinburgh in the late afternoon. We've got time to explore a bit of Edinburgh and surroundings like Wallace Monument until 31st March early morning when we'll head off to Loch Lomond & Trossauchs National Park where we'll spend a few hours there. If there's enough time to spare, we'll stop at Glencoe until sundown. Then we have a small place booked…

I would like to get the train down to Alnwick Castle which is outside of Scotland as i am a harry potter fan but want some ideas for the rest of our time there as we have never been. We will be getting a train from Edinburgh back down to London at the end of our Scotland trip so we want…

We would like to see the Afton River (famous for the Robert Burns poem) during our trip to Scotland. Can anyone tell us if there are any sites or memorials along the course of the river that are worth visiting? I'm hoping there is some kind of monument to Robert Burns to see there.

Hi All

I'm looking for some suggestions for a 10 day itinerary for a driving trip we are doing at the end of May. We'll be arriving on the ferry from Northern Ireland into Troon. We want to visit Loch Lomond, the Highlands, The Isle of Skye but am looking for other ideas of good places to visit and where to stay. We've been to Glasgow and Edinburgh before we we'll probably just finish off with one night in Edinburgh before driving back to the ferry. any advice would be greatly appreciated :)
