Hi,

My parents (in their mid-50's) are attending a wedding in London in July and are planning for a vacation in Scotland after that. They have around 9-10 days for the vacation. The itinerary we have planned so far is:

Flight/train from London to Edinburgh
-2 days in Edinburgh
-rent a car from Edinburgh and go north towards Perth, half a day in Perth and half day in St Andrews. 1 Day
-next day drive up north in Cairngorm national park and stay there for the night and explore it the next day. 1

A few of us are planning to visit Scotland in late September 2017, we will not be renting a vehicle and will not be taking any scheduled tours. What we would like is some suggestions on hidden treasures in Scotland places that are a must see, places to eat and stay.
We are finding the more we look and read we get overwhelmed, there are some of the popular places we will be going to, but would like some inside suggestions.
Thank you,

Hello everybody !
I plan to visit Isle Of Skye for a couple of days in late July.I am a 43 yrs -old female solo traveller from Turkey(to be honest I am not into hostels) and i rather have private facilities when i book some accomodation while travelling.I have already checked alot of websites for reasonable priced single rooms,B&B but it turned out to be rather expensive. My budget for a single room per night can go up to 35-40 GBP.Could someone help me find out about accomodation?

Hi! Seeking another traveler for a quick 2-day trip to Isle of Skye (or related area)! Interested in moving quick, hiking, culture - very easy going and flexible. I plan to rent a car.

Depart: Sunday 9am Glasgow
Return: Monday night (worst case Tuesday 9am)

Let me know if you're interested and we can get in touch.

Hi everybody; we´ll travel to the Highlands with my wif eand kids (3 and 6 years) in July for three nights. We´d like to know where can I find affordable B&B for one night in Oban area, one in Skye and one in Inverness. Do you suggest any web sites? I was looking the International Youth Hostelling network.
It is possible to just look for accomodation once in the zone? or is better to book in advance?

Thanks
Regards

Juan Pablo

After looking a lot at the long hikes, I am likely to stick with day hikes, potentially basing myself out of Aviemore and Fort William (alternatively I could get drawn towards Skye). I will be flying into and out of Inverness in July, and basically have 7 days (meaning I can leave Inverness on the morning of day 1 and have to be back by the evening of day 7). Any suggestions for day hikes and/or itineraries? I am thinking something like:
Day 1: Bus to Aviemore, maybe short day hike in the…

I will be flying to Inverness for a wedding and have decided to extend the trip a week to do some hiking. I don't need to go all over the country and see everything, but I would like one really good 4-5 day hike (or a location with multiple excellent day hikes). I will not be driving so I will rely on public transportation, and have been thinking the West Way trail (a bit tough to make it in a week I think), Skye, or Assynt. However, honestly I don't know the country at all and am very open. Any…
