I’m going to be in Scotland, walking St. Cuthbert’s Way (which finishes at the eastern end of the borderlands), after which I’ll have a few more days before going home. Trying to decide how to spend those days. Most likely, I’ll improvise, but would welcome your input.
I think quiet and not overly busy, maybe a coastal town or village would be best. Some places which seem appealing are Kirkcudbright, Crail, Pittenweem, and maybe Crovie or Pennan (I know the latter two are a good…
Hi, I am going to Edinburgh for 7 days at the end of May ( long weekend ). This is the first time I am going to travel entirely by myself. I am nervous but excited at the same time. I have planned ( so far ) to explore Edinburgh and vicinity for 3 and half days and the Lake District ( England ) for 2 and half days. So far I have booked a hop on hop off bus tour for the city of Edinburgh and booked a Best of Lakes all day tour for Lake District from Windermere where I am staying. I have planned…
I am planning a week off in Scotland this early summer. Its gonna be my first time in the country and i cant figure out must-see's and must-do's in such a short time.
I love nature, animals and wildlife as well as history( such as castles, palaces).I have been reading alot online and i came to the conclusion that Edinburgh is a lovely city to visit for a couple of days if not for more.I would really love to see some islands and i cant decide which ones ( Outer Hebrides,Inner…
Flying from OZ thru Heathrow to Edinburgh, travel agent says luggage will be transferred from Royal Brunei flight to internal BA flight so all I have to do is change terminals. Another "expert" says I must retrieve luggage at Heathrow, go thru customs and transfer it to the onward flight to Edinburgh myself. Can anyone tell me which is correct as am elderly and not up to charging about Heathrow with luggage. Thanks!
My girlfriend and I will be spending 2 weeks in Scotland at the end of August/Beginning of September. We both do not feel very confident about driving on the left side on the street, and hiring a car is more expensive for us because we're apparently "too young" (23) to get a normal price (is this the case with every company?) Therefore we want to get around by public transport, maybe with one of these "X out of Y days unlimited travel with bus/train/ferry" offers.. I already searched the…
Never been to scotland, but have the opportunity for a weekend.
doesn't have to be edinburgh or glascow if theres a smaller city thats less touristed? maybe older village? just needs old buildings, old pubs, some scenery, and thick accents! a friend recommended Oban? I'm open to any suggestions ...
I am planning my trip this summer to Scotland, and I am hitting a little travel snafu.
I will be taking the evening ferry from Tarbert to Uig on the Isle of Skye on Saturday evening 8/13. My plan was to sleep in Uig and then take the 57C bus around the Trotternish Peninsula to Portree where I would then hire a car.
I just looked at the Scottish Citylink website, and if I am reading it correctly, there is no Sunday bus service. This is the site I looked up: http://www.travelinescotla…
I'll be traveling to Scotland for the first time in mid-July 2016 & will be spending 2 weeks in Forres housesitting at a friends. I've got most of my time in Forres/ Inverness planned, but suggestions are welcomed!
My biggest concern is my trip home... I'm using award miles on United for my tickets and already have my inbound ticket (Houston to London, then splurging on sleeper train to Inverness) but trying to figure out how to get home... Most any train/bus/flight from Inverness to…
I'm heading to Scotland for the first time and I'm excited to bring along my garmin GPS! We're planning to do some off-the-beaten-path hiking and it would be very useful to have at least the major roads uploaded onto my GPS. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can download this sort of data?
Thanks very much!
Just planning a trip to do the west highland way walk the 8 day trek.
