Hi everybody; we´ll travel to the Highlands with my wif eand kids (3 and 6 years) in July for three nights. We´d like to know where can I find affordable B&B for one night in Oban area, one in Skye and one in Inverness. Do you suggest any web sites? I was looking the International Youth Hostelling network.
It is possible to just look for accomodation once in the zone? or is better to book in advance?
I have just spent 2 weeks on the Isle of Skye, Scotland, I have made a couple vlogs showing my experiences and things you can do there. the videos are on my youtube channel AirSinghTV, here is the first video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9BV3oWH-wI
if you have any questions about things to do feel free to get in touch through message or social media :)
After looking a lot at the long hikes, I am likely to stick with day hikes, potentially basing myself out of Aviemore and Fort William (alternatively I could get drawn towards Skye). I will be flying into and out of Inverness in July, and basically have 7 days (meaning I can leave Inverness on the morning of day 1 and have to be back by the evening of day 7). Any suggestions for day hikes and/or itineraries? I am thinking something like:
Day 1: Bus to Aviemore, maybe short day hike in the…
I will be flying to Inverness for a wedding and have decided to extend the trip a week to do some hiking. I don't need to go all over the country and see everything, but I would like one really good 4-5 day hike (or a location with multiple excellent day hikes). I will not be driving so I will rely on public transportation, and have been thinking the West Way trail (a bit tough to make it in a week I think), Skye, or Assynt. However, honestly I don't know the country at all and am very open. Any…
My husband and I are road tripping Scotland for 7 days as part of a trip in September. We will be driving from the Lakes District up to Scotland. We want Edinburgh to be our last stop as we will be catching a train from Edinburgh back to London so i'm trying to figure out which places to book our accommodation. After some researching i'm thinking we start in Glasgow and from there make our way up to Fort William, then Inverness and then back down to Edinburgh but i'm not sure where to stay in…
I am arriving Glasgow Airport Wed 1 June around evening rush hour. If I take the Airport 500 shuttle into Glasgow, what is the best place to get off to find a taxi to the Kelvingrove area? Easily finding a taxi close to the bus stop is more important than total travel time or cost.
My friend and I are going to spend five days (not counting travel there and back) in the Hebrides in September. We will be car free but walk a lot and are interested in archeological sites and wildlife/nature. Our thoughts are to spend two days on Islay, one on Coll just to experience a small island, and two on Mull, probably in Tobermory. We're hoping that we can drop luggage at Tobermory ferry terminal on the way to Coll so we don't have to drag suitcases like recalcitrant children for at…
Hey I'm heading over to Scotland in June and I'll be heading to hazel bank, lankershire. I was just wondering if anyone knows the best way to get there?
By bus or train? If so roughly how much would this cost?
I`m planning climb Ben Nevis this next June.
s the weather conditions? Lots of snow?
Is it necessary to use crampons and ice axe in this time of the year?
I`m planning to do the ascent through the Carn Mor Dearg arete and made my descent through the pony track, is it duable?
Any recommendations or suggestions I would appreciate ;)
Thanks in advance
