Hi everyone, I'm a solo female traveler going to Scotland for the month of June 2017. I've been researching places to stay on AirB&B. There are lots of different areas offered and I know I need to make a decision and book something. Any recommendations on a place or area of town ?'I would prefer to walk everywhere. Second question any suggestions on how long to stay there before maybe moving to Glasgow, to the coast , or Highlands, etc. I've never been to Scotland any suggestions would be…

I'm an Australian 'living' in the Scottish Borders at the moment. I'm working as a voluteer at a community and I'm hoping to apply for a proper visa soon, but in the meantime I'm here on the 6 month visa waiver.

Truth be told it's a very long time since I actually lived in Australia but it's still my official place of residence and where my passport is from. However, I'm not planning on returning to Australia anytime soon.

I've got some issues with my eyes and need surgery soon to go about my…

Hello, my girlfriend and I (novice travelers) are planning our trip to Scotland for the end of May. We would like to have some tips and tricks to help us make an itinerary.

We already know that we will go to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling as well as the island of Skye. We would like to know the activities and places that we must visit. We will travel on foot or by public transport so these activities must be accessible. We would also like to know the better place to sleep in these cities.

If you…

Incredibly novice traveler here, I'm from the US and have only traveled on my own continent.. that is why I'm thrilled that we get to visit some of UK in the fall (Sept.), Lord willing!

Plane tickets are purchased and we are compiling a wishlist, but now that it comes down to the detail planning, I'm wondering if we can "play it by ear" some of the time and be able to find lodgings along the way. I plan on securing locations in the cities ahead of time, but can we be more flexible in the…

Hey, there.

This is a first world "problem;" in fact, it's an enjoyable one to wrestle with in a way.

I’d be interested in knowing if any of you out there having experience walking the Ayrshire Coastal Path or Fife Coastal Path, and what your experience would be like.

Looking online, I can find no accounts of anyone describing the Ayrshire walk, and most people who describe their experience in Fife seem to have walked smaller stretches for the most part.

In some ways, the lack of accounts is…

My wife and I have reserved a well-regarded one-day guided tour of Orkney and environs for £440 total on Friday, June 9, 2017. As the guide is willing to take up to four, we'd be interested in sharing this day with one or two other folks and splitting costs accordingly.

And, if anyone is interested in an additional second day (we are, but can't afford it by ourselves) expanded tour on Saturday June 10, 2017, we'd be up for that as well (second day is £400 total).

So if we got a full complement…

Hi

We are getting married on the Isle of Skye in august and need some help with the wedding location/venue since we are not from Scotland. We would like to get married outside, somewhere on a cliff, overlooking the sea. We also need to have a plan B in case of heavy rain, meaning a sheltered area. It will be a small wedding, just the two of us, no guests.

Can someone recommend a scenic outdoor location and a sheltered venue in that area (maybe a hotel lobby or sheltered terrace of a restaurant…

My Canadian daughter is halfway through a two year youth mobility visa to the UK - she is living in Scotland. Shortly after she arrived there, she met a Scottish man and well, they have recently gotten engaged!

I'm trying to find out some information on what happens next for them. If they get married in Scotland (can they?), and they want to remain living there, how does she go about becoming a citizen?

What if they were to come to Canada to visit and were to marry here but still plan on…
