Lonely Planet review for Bothy

A bothy is not normally the most comfortable of abodes, but this West End player pays little heed to this tradition, boasting a combo of modern design and comfy retro furnishings. It also blows apart the myth that Scottish food is stodgy and uninteresting. The Bothy dishes out traditional, uniquely Scottish, home-style fare with a modern twist. It’s filling, but leave room for dessert. An £11 lunch will get you away cheaper.

Bothy - lives up to it's name

    minipen recommends this,

The Bothy offers exquisite service, perfect quality food yet reasonably priced. This was my first visit to Glasgow and I have been back since! The first occasion I had linguine of Wild Mushrooms, rich without being too heavy and Cranachan afterwards, a rich, very sweet dessert the amount of fruit it contained I told myself was one of my five a day!. On the second occasion we both had the oven baked salmon, cooked to perfection, served with efficient, welcoming staff although I didn’t get a Christmas card from them but they were genuinely friendly and helpful whilst we were there!

Good for groups too, there are 2 private dining rooms that can be booked ideal for a special occasion a smaller one, the ‘Snug’ for 8 people and the larger one which we were in, makes it more of an occasion without having strangers surrounding you. It lives up to it’s name Bothy meaning friendly room.

Highly recommended, just wish I lived nearer.
