Lonely Planet review for Always Sunday
If the thought of a greasy fry-up is enough to put you off your breakfast, head instead for this bright and breezy cafe that dishes up hearty but healthy grub such as fresh fruit smoothies, crisp salads, homemade soups and speciality sandwiches, washed down with fair-trade coffee or herbal tea.

Always Sunday is just the job!
1rebeccao recommends this,
They're not kidding when they lay claim to a chilled out Sunday morning ethos every morning at Always Sunday! This place was so relaxing, I kept expecting someone to bring my slippers - and I don't think many people would have batted an eyelid if I had wandered through in my pj's!
I have just spent a lovely - if cold - weekend break with my family In Edinburgh. After recovering from the shock of the ambitious price being charged for breakfast at our hotel, we decided to branch out and find somewhere else for breakfast. As we were planning to visit Edinburgh Castle first off, we headed in that direction and stumbled across Always Sunday. It is brilliantly placed for tourists close to the Royal Mile, but with a definate local vibe.
Its not exactly huge, so I imagine its not always easy to bag yourself a table, but we managed ok. The food is a refreshing mix of the usual hot fayre (with traditional Scottish options) with yummy pastries and fresh juices. It was great for our family as the children were able to try different things and mix and match. They sampled most of the menu during our four day break! The choice of breads to eat fresh or have toasted was vast and the coffee was great.
We could have stayed all day as there was no pressure to vacate our table and breakfast could have easily turned into lunch, if the call of the bagpipes and tartan gift shops further up the Royal Mile had not been so compelling.
I'm loath to submit this review in case Always Sunday is full on our next trip to Edinburgh but I just can't bear the thought of people paying for those over-priced hotel breakfasts when this gem is an option.
