Bus

Eurolines and National Express run buses 920 and 921 twice daily between London/Birmingham and Belfast, via Carlisle, Dumfries, towns along the A75 and Stranraer; London to Dumfries is £29.

Local buses run regularly to Kirkcudbright (one hour, roughly hourly Monday to Saturday, six on Sunday) and towns along the A75 to Stranraer (£6.50, 2¼ hours, nine daily Monday to Saturday, three on Sunday).

Bus 100/101 runs to/from Edinburgh (£6, 2¾ hours, six daily), via Moffat and Biggar.

Train

There are trains between Carlisle and Dumfries (£7.70, 35 minutes, every hour or two, Monday to Saturday), and direct trains between Dumfries and Glasgow (£11.60, 1¾ hours, eight daily Monday to Saturday); there’s a reduced service on Sunday.
