My family and I are moving to Dhahran near Dammam in Spring. We have a mixture of electrical appliances bought in the UK and Japan. I'm trying to understand what will be compatible with the electricity supply in that part of Saudi. Plug sockets are not an issue because we can easily get adapters if necessary, but the supply is trickier if there are compatibility problems.
Can anyone on the ground there, or with first hand experience from there, tell me what the electricity supply…
We will soon be moving to Riyadh and organising the shipment of all our stuff there, in a container.
I read the regulations and since I got loads of books (around 2,000), I was wondering if there was any issues with:
- Magazines such as National Geographic where there can be photos of women showing too much flesh
- Comics for adults (Seinen manga for instance can be quite blunt at times)
- Art books (contemporary and classic)
- Comics for kids
- Is there a list of books on KSA that…
I was wondering what the situation was for credit cards in Saudi Arabia. Is it possible to pay at restaurants and shops with card? What about things like transportation or attractions or at airports?
Any information helps. Many thanks!
I already wrote a topic about that and I am still interested if this could be possible. I found this advise on a forum on TripAdvisor and wanna ask if this is true, or somebody made this experience lately. Thank you
Transit Without Visa - Leaving Airport
Dec 30, 2015, 2:58 PM
The visados website suggests that for a 7 hour transit stop in Riyadh it may be possible to leave the airport WITHOUT A VISA. Has anyone heard of this being successful as it conflicts with everything I have read before.
I know this question is asked alot but I couldn't find the right answer yet. I am very interested to visit untouched or untourist places around the world and on my next trip to Africa, I would like to take a few days in KSA. What I am looking for is, if it's possible to find a sponsor in KSA, that gives me an invitation for a business visa, even I am not involded in their business. I am willing to pay for the invitation letter. Has anybody done this recently? I hope somebody can help me. I…
I am an European citizen, causacian. On my way from Europe to Pakistan some time this March (will just be visiting friends there - I have myself no background from Pakistan), I would like to stop in Riyad and meet one friend of mine there too, who is working in the capital as an immigrant worker (not Saudi national). I would like to spend in Riyad some 2-4 days and use the opportunity to explore the city and its people.
The way I see it, there are no ways for me to get any kind of…

I am a UK female travelling to Riyadh on a business visa for 2 days. Everything I have read says I need to be met by my sponsor on arrival - which would be fine but I feel bad getting him to the airport just to meet me and turn around again! I have a hotel driver coming to pick me up - will that suffice as my "met on arrival" or MUST it be a sponsor?
I have already done quite a bit of Internet reading around the topic already so don't need a cut and paste from a Google search - real…
I tried in vain to find information on Thorn Tree about getting Saudi transit visas for GCC residents. Having now found out how to do it, I figured I’d save someone else from starting from scratch by summarising my experience.
The first step is to go to this website: https://www.vfstasheel.com/VFSTasheel/html/DE/English/visa_information.jsp
They’ve been given the task of running the visa system on behalf of Saudi and they seem to be a pretty efficient operation. For UAE residents, they have…
